Author’s Note

I’ll confess, I wrote this book out of frustration. I asked “Why must there be such an extreme focus on the polish stage of writing, revision and grammar?” It’s even to the point that many student writers feel that is what writing means, and thus they don’t spend enough time on the core elements, like organization, ideas, and research. Most of all I wondered why, given all the excellent writing resources out there, I had trouble finding books that didn’t treat writing like a medicine you had to take. The focus was on making writing less challenging, but still left it dry. Sure, students have to write their college papers, but why can’t they enjoy it?
